12 November 2008:

utsourcing Malaysia chairman David Wong, in stating this Wednesday, said the industry was growing at double the 15 percent global growth currently and the strong momentum is expected to continue.

"If the industry continues to grow at the rate that is expected, it will employ 300,000 people by then and the targeted growth will be 40 to 45 percent," he told reporters at the inaugural Outsourcing Malaysia conference here.

Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Fadillah Yusof officially launched the three-day conference.

Wong said the industry has grown quickly since Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) decided to focus on SSO.

"If looking at the growth rates, it's always double-digit," he said.

At the conference, Outsourcing Malaysia announced partnerships with India-based business research and competitive intelligence firm, ValueNotes, on market intelligence and locally-grown multinational educational institution, Asia eUniversity, on human resource and development.

"The cooperation with ValueNotes and Asia eUniversity are expected to strengthen the industry's market intelligence and sustainable human resource requirements," Wong said.
