Gevity merger forms human resources giant

3 June 2009:

The world of human resources welcomed a major player Monday after TriNet Group Inc. completed its acquisition of Gevity HR Inc.

The combined company is now one of the largest human resources providers in the country.

Burton M. Goldfield, CEO and president of TriNet, said the merger will allow the company to capitalize on a vast amount of expertise and experience in the industry "to create a small business HR outsourcing offering unlike any that has ever existed."

"It's an exciting day for us," Goldfield said Monday between meetings with employees at Gevity's former Lakewood Ranch headquarters, where about 400 employees work. "I would not have put this combination together if it weren't for the staff in Bradenton. We were going to build an East Coast center anyway because we wanted a presence here. We chose Gevity because of the favorable environment, the beautiful building here and the vibrant work force."

Goldfield said that former Gevity clients will not experience any disruption in their services and they should see significant advantages from the combined organization, including expanded health care options, enhanced Web-based human resources technology and flexibility.

The combined company will use both names for now but the Lakewood Ranch offices will eventually evolve from Gevity to TriNet.
