Channel 4 outsources HR admin

8 May 2009:

Channel 4 has outsourced its HR administration to Logica in a five-year contract.

The contract, which will use an integrated HR system from Oracle, is an extension of an existing payroll outsourcing arrangement. It will cover 25 of the broadcaster’s transactional HR processes, such as joiners and leavers, changes to employee details and absence recording. The system has now gone live, after an implementation process was worked on over several months.

The company says that the main reasons for the decision are the need to reduce costs, streamline HR with payroll and encourage more automation.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman confirmed that there were only three members of the HR department directly affected by the move, and their roles were made redundant.

Gemma Dowson, senior IT project manager at Channel 4, said: “Logica has a proven track record in delivering new and innovative ideas to improve our processes and achieve greater efficiencies that align with our business and technology strategies. We believe that with Logica’s consistent level of support and delivery, we will achieve our business aspirations and look forward to further strengthening our relationship.”

Patricia Taylor, director of Logica’s HR and payroll business in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Channel 4. Within the current economic climate, it is essential that clients can depend on service providers to deliver the flexibility in the way services are procured and financed. Our pay-as-you-go model is designed to provide a rapid return on investment for our clients, particularly when we can leverage their strategic enterprise platform, in this case, Oracle.”
