HR Outsourcing: India Rising

One of the most animated discussion topics we enjoyed on our recent tour of India was centered on the eagerness of some of the Indian outsourcing providers to infiltrate the global HR business-process-outsourcing market.
Recalling the entry of the Indian top-tier outsourcers into HR BPO three years ago, most of the industry -- Western providers and buyers alike -- was highly skeptical. Not many people believed you could take comprehensive HR services offshore and run them successfully, while saving clients significant amounts of money at the same time.
However, times (and attitudes) have really changed, with the Indian top tier now competing aggressively for hybrid IT-BPO contracts. We expect an increased number of major HR BPO engagements to be announced in the coming months that are awarded to leading Indian-headquartered outsourcing service providers, and an increased acceptance from enterprises to have routine HR processes managed from offshore locations.
